the 17th student council

Last night and this morning, we elected the exco members of the 17th student council. Well… Most of them. We proudly smashed the previous record of ending at 530am to arrive at a close at 8am. 12 hours! Brand new record! By the end of it, all the other presidents were pretty wiped and we all had eyes the size of fissures in pavement. I made new friends at the council meeting! Hope to work closely with their clubs in the near future. =)

On Monday we resume and I will speak to Meng Wei again regarding ADM. I should also speak to the VP (SA) should he/she be elected by then.

Congratulations to Elena who got the position of Publicity! You did awesome this morning (even if it was 7am already and everyone was half asleep) and we’re all really proud of you. =) Do us proud!

Had our second 3rd management comm meeting at 1030am. So didn’t really sleep. But I really couldn’t focus during meeting and ended up not being able to stay on track all the time… =\ sorry guys…

AGM was right before the council meeting. And I don’t think I expected a whole lot more out of myself. =\ Lousy Ying… Drafting an email now about all the plans for the next year. I would like ADMers to know what direction their student club would like to take and what to expect in the next year.

1. Communication
Heads for each major and year as well as representatives from each foundation group will represent you in monthly meetings with the management committee to make sure the ADM club is meeting your needs. The major and foundation heads are appointed by nominations and is the link between you and the management committee.

2. Welfare
Unresolved issues:
- the issuing of fans in each lab
- the painting of the student lounge
- partitioning of the student lounge
Events:
- small welfare events such as mooncake festival
Facilities:
- permanent area for our student lounge
- more couches and carpets for the student lounge

3. Visibility (NTU)
Student Union:
- increase ADM involvement in SU activities
Events:
- crash courses, workshops, performances, exhibitions
Collaborations:
- website, joint events, joint projects

4. Visibility (Singapore)
Website:
- online competitions, show reels, portfolios
Events:
- Open House, FOCAL 08, GrafFire 08, showcases
Collaborations:
- joint events and projects with the other art schools, polytechnics, universities and junior colleges

We will probably be announcing the major heads by next Wednesday evening and have the first meeting within the week. Then nominated positions to be announced the wednesday after that. Need to be more organized…
