YES! WORK WORK!

Posted by Ying Huang on December 30, 2007

Amidst the bubbling excitement of tomorrow being New Year’s Eve and getting to go out with Teng, it suddenly dawned upon me that TOMORROW IS NEW YEAR’S EVE. Which naturally means that the day after is 2008.

GOOD GAWD!

I have a ton of things to do! Frantically clearing them this morning made me feel several kilos lighter and placated my near imploding pimples that were happily hissing “YESH!!! STRESS BABY STRESS!!!” under the oily epidermis that is my face.

URGH!

I have acne. So gross. First time in my life I have such horrid horrid prolonged acne. Feels like they are nesting on my face, getting ready to take flight like a bunch of fugly baby vultures from my cheeks.

vultureface.jpg

OH MY GOODNESS!

I have nothing much to talk about… =\ I WASHED MY CAR THIS MORNING! I gave it a thorough scrub down, vacuumed the carpets and the seats, and even made that “eek eek” sound that comes from rubbing the chrome clean. Shiny!

About to go out with the kids! =D Yayyyy

I feel immensely happy! I LOVE FINAL FANTASY VII CRISIS CORE!!! So exciting! I have no idea what they are talking about (since they converse in Japanese and the subtitles are in Japanese as well) so I just assumed that the plot is about a bunch of people who have been possessed by a giant legume. Possibly a salted peanut. And as such, they begin attacking their own comrades with large machines of doom! And out of nowhere Bahamut appears and tries to kick the crap out of me!

But NOOOOOO!!! I KEEL HIM!

Keel… keel… keel…

STAB HIM WITH MY KNIFE!

Sword. I mean.

I get some of what they are saying. Reading the words aloud really really really slowly helps. Helped me figure out alot about the battle system that is oh-so-confuddling.

TIME TO GO!!!!

Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core

Posted by Ying Huang on December 29, 2007

I’m playing a new game! Nevermind that it’s entirely in Japanese and I’m fumbling my way through with my very very very minimal Japanese and a whole lot of help from Xuan…

-bleep- beautiful game. And I love the new battle system.

Superstar Virgo

Posted by Ying Huang on December 29, 2007

Went on cruise again from Wednesday evening to Friday afternoon. Well, again kinda makes it sound like I do this all the time, which I don’t. The last time I was on cruise was on the very same ship in December 2003. Ahh… Anyway, having the need to satiate my blogging desires, I stowed a memo pad in my knapsack and scribbled away some manual blog posts.

DAY ONE:

I’ve been on this boat for 2.5 hours… And I’m already back in my room, scribbling in my notepad with the only writing device I could scavenge out of my bag – a really leaky old marker. Tomorrow I shall knick a pen from the front desk so I can do some old-school blogging without worrying about seepage through this ridiculously thin paper.

It’s been a good 4 years since I was last on this ship. the last was one of beginnings, endings, smiles, tears, friendships, conflict… This time it’s all about family. Everywhere I look, I see families. Throngs of people milling about in the lobbies, the corridors, the stairs. I just wish you were here with me. You would have liked this.

The trip started out pretty chaotic. We ended up in the wrong queue twice since the lines started a good 100m away from the entrance. It took us over an hour of queuing to get into the ship. And during this 60 minutes, our line was rudely and inexplicably cut TWICE by TWO sets of really annoying elderly couples. Going back even further, during dinner, we experienced a new kind of rude that would require a whole new word just to describe it. Having reserved 2 tables (8 seats, just nice) for our entire family, we went to get food while my mom stayed at the tables. Then this lady came up and dragged one of our chairs out and sat herself upon it OUTSIDE the restaurant without saying a word. Her son came in a while later and tried sitting at the table next to my mom before she said there was someone sitting there. So he moved to the seat OPPOSITE it. =.= Same table. Aha. His DAD came in a couple of minutes later and just sat himself at the table opposite Long and Yuan, randomly reaching OVER THEIR FOOD and ACROSS THEIR FACES during the entire meal. They weren’t even eating anything at that restaurant! The bunch of inconsiderate *******!!!

Oh… The ship has started to move. I’ve resorted to looking at the suddenly too few photos of you I have on my phone, which, for the first time ever, died on me, from sheer exhaustion and disgust at my utter lack of self control. After this charge, I’ll be turning it off till we disembark again. Thinking about it, this trip is really short. less than 2 full days and we still pay for 3D2N. Cheap bastards. =\ I was getting really sleepy so I headed back to the room first, leaving the other 2 girls to go exploring. Now Im in the room alone, the full weight of how lonely I am without you is finally crashing over me like a tidal wave of ‘oh-my-god-I’m-so-lonely-why-didn’t-I-pack-you-in-my-knapsack’. I feel like such a psychotic stalker person stalking my own girlfriend.

DAY TWO:

Halfway through day 2 and here we are again… In the room… Again… And I have once again failed to acquire a pen from the front desk. Sleep came easy to me last night but waking up included a good 5-6 phonecalls, some good ole door bashing and a whole lot of sulking when I sat up in an empty bed (kinda trippy if you thinking about it, having slept in an empty bed when the entire activity of lying down in said bed no longer makers it empty and thus negating the entire sentence, and with it all associated emotions, of waking up in an ‘empty’ bed that is, in full actuality, not really empty).

Played arcade with the family in the morning (yes, even my parents). 7 minds could not break the 3,000,000 highscore on the photohunt machine! It is a travesty! But all the jabbing at the screen gave me a very sore index finger. Si the kids adjourned for a game of minigolf.

We declared each 3m course to be fitting of Par 8 of 10 and ended up with amazing scores of -20,-27,-17, etc. Awesome! Went to join my parents and Hua at Bingo for a while. the winner walked away with a staggering, mind boggling SGD385! Amazing! And got to dance with the really entertaining host! =D

We’ll be pulling into KL’s Klang port soon and going to the KLCC to do some serious shopping! Need to remember to keep an eye out for clothes/shoes for Teng among other things. I feel a strange gnawing irony… Ah well! Onwards and upwards! We’ve all come a long way to get to where we are today. And I’m loving everyday I have. =D I’m living my dream, studying my passion, have awesome parents, a rockin’ family, friends I can count on, and the girl for whom I would run to the ends of the Earth for. I feel like the luckiest person in the world. =D

And it’s time to go meet up with my parents now…

Night. Now simply idling away another half hour before our stipulated KTV sessions down at that ear-destroying place on Deck 7. Garh! Anyway, KL wasn’t too bad. I got to nap on the hour journey to KLCC, something I don’t get to do too often in cars. I was all prepared for some serious shopping! then…

Armani. GAP. Zara. Chanel. LV.

All the brands I cannot and have no interest in wading into. =\Didn’t get to buy much since everything was as (or even more) expensive as back home. =( Sorry! Instead, went hairband hunting for her! Hehehehhe. After just about 2 hours, we had to head back to the ship, just in time to experience the awesome Malaysian peak hour traffic! Awesome! the sunset was gorgeous. Pity my less than mediocre photography skills couldn’t coax the colors to their full, luscious potential. I love sunsets…

Dinner was at the on-board Japanese restaurant. It was horrbily expensive and not at all up to standard. Bland food, soggy sushi, slow service, diluted sake were amongst a host of things that ticked us off. =\ Ah well…

Went ot check out those cheesy snapshots they make you take when you board the ship and Lu bought the one with all the kids in it. Bought something else for Teng from there as well, handmade by this awesome lady who works there. =) Hope she likes it…

I’ve been feeling lethargic all day. I hope its not the allergy acting up. Shall take a nap before KTV. Results are coming out tomorrow… =\ Ah well… That’s not really what’s plaguing me. I’m more concerned about what I should do first when I see her tomorrow. Hug her, or give her a high five, or stutter like an idiot like I always do…

Now I’m lazy and shall fling random photos at my unsuspecting readers.

I missed the gorgeous view from our cabin!

The morning Hua forgot to take a plate… =\

The guys… Eating the free breakfast at the Mediterranean buffet, one of 3 free places to eat. This was the only free meal I had. The free places tend to be closed when I want to eat… =\

STEROIDS! Yeah.. my allergy medication is a series of steroids and anti-histamines. My family is expecting me to bulk up anytime soon…

The kids off to play some Mini Golf!

I’ve always found this sign a tad cheesy looking… Like one of those giant stickers you would expect to find on the side of a jumbo pack of Mamee Noodles in NTUC.

Xuan and his amazing MiniGolf skills… (This hole was set at Par 8… He took 5 whacks to get this ball out of the bunker)

Remember this place?

On the way to KLCC… Before I fell asleep… =) I love taking photos of random things we don’t have back home in Singapore. Like huge mammoths of steel…

And tall tall buildings with shiny heads in front of them. I took a good 4 shots of KLCC but that uncle with the head kept managing to pop his head in every single one of them.. =\

LULU SPOILED THE THING!!! Singaporeans tearing apart KLCC. MUAHAHAHHAHAHA

A fantastic sign prohibiting large onions on the road.

The 3! On the way back to the ship. Before sleeping. Again.

Xuan and Lu’s toy thing…

Notice what’s missing? LANE MARKINGS! So exciting!

Random shots of the sky. =D

Xuan and his warm sake (“I don’t need to hold my haaaaannndddd”)

My last dose of steroids! (yesh… I have to eat 7 at a go)

Tada! I am so lazy…

Hot

Posted by Ying Huang on December 26, 2007

(AVRIL LAVIGNE?!?! WHY OH WHY?!?!)

You’re so good to me, baby, baby

I wanna lock you up in my closet, where no one’s around
I wanna put your hand in my pocket, because you’re allowed
I wanna drive you into the corner, and kiss you without a sound
I wanna stay this way forever, I’ll say it loud
Now you’re in and can’t get out

You make me so hot
Make me wanna drop
You’re so ridiculous
I can barely stop
I can hardly breathe
You make me wanna scream
You’re so fabulous
You’re so good to me, baby, baby
You’re so good to me, baby, baby

I can make you feel all better, just take it in
And I can show you all the places, you’ve never been
And I can make you say everything, that you never said
And I will let you do anything, again and again
Now you’re in and can’t get out

You make me so hot
Make me wanna drop
You’re so ridiculous
I can barely stop
I can hardly breathe
You make me wanna scream
You’re so fabulous
You’re so good to me, baby, baby
You’re so good to me, baby, baby

Kiss me gently
Always I know
Hold me, love me
Don’t ever go, oh oh oh…
Yeah!

You make me so hot
Make me wanna drop
You’re so ridiculous
I can barely stop
I can hardly breathe
You make me wanna scream
You’re so fabulous
You’re so good to me

You make me so hot
Make me wanna drop
You’re so ridiculous
I can barely stop
I can hardly breathe
You make me wanna scream
You’re so fabulous
You’re so good to me, baby, baby
You’re so good to me, baby, baby

You’re so good

Allergy

Posted by Ying Huang on December 25, 2007

My first allergic reaction! So exciting!

Actually it’s really annoying. My palms got all itchy and swollen. Then my whole body itched, then my throat started to swell so I couldn’t swallow or breathe properly.

Mommy and daddy brought me to the doctors’… Feels nice being looked after by my parents again… =)

The doctor gave me 2 jabs. One, an anti-histamine, and the other steroids right to the vein. Painful. =( I hate jabs… They make me wince and frown… Not to mention I have to bend my sore arms in funny angles to rub my swollen face.

=\

Lucky I had you on the phone… Otherwise I would have sat there and drew a frown so long it would make dust trails as I walked along.

My eye hurts…

I had to do a nebulizer too… Not even sure if that’s how you spell it…

I can’t type… my arm hurts… =(

everything hurts…

I’m on standby in case I stop breathing all of a sudden… Then I have a doctor’s note to tell the A&E doctors what to do with my lifeless body…

for the lack of photos

Posted by Ying Huang on December 25, 2007

Certainly we are all suffering from a dire lack of photos. So I shall post many many starting from Christmas eve…

The kids started their day going off to office for the office party. The turkey was awesome. But I think I had too much. 5 servings of it! Xuan and I were late cause he came with me to my drum class. =) Nice Xuany… Here he is posing with his meat carving devices wrapped suspiciously in plastic bags and kitchen towels.

Here he is again spiking the smoothie with rum.

And here are the kebabs we made! the lamb cubes were so big they looked like steaks on the tiny satay sticks. =\ I like the peppers though. nice…

The Christmas Eve dinner spread created by Lu. Awesome. This is only half the table. The other side contained the soup, turkey and ham.

Today went pretty well. =) After about a month of very very successful sewing, I gave up and made something 2D and not as nice as I hoped… =\ But she liked it anyway, so it’s all good. =D I need to keep trying though. Infuriating when I want to sew a doll and all that comes out are fat little banana shaped things that look nothing like the drawing I was intending to follow. Lousy!

Siew Lian yiyi bought me leopard/cheetah patterned drumsticks! o.o Awesome!

Pa got me this… It’s… Pink… I think he did it on purpose… =\

Mine and Xuan’s come in a pair! pour femme and pour homme. hahahahahahaha but its still pink.

We went to Orchard today! It was surprisingly empty. Everyone was avoiding Orchard like the plague when announcements have been going up for the past month screaming the imminent closing of Orchard Road during Christmas. They only blocked off from Scotts road to Bideford though. So we pranced around in the middle of the road with a block of frozen fat between two tiny wafers.

We walked from Wheelock to Cathay to try to catch I Am Legend but it was totally sold out everywhere, even in PS after we walked there. So we watched National Treasure instead. awesome show. Nicely thought out. Like the first one. On the way we saw the results of someone’s attempts at milking a sign post.

FRESH!

Christmas this year began with her in my arms looking out at an amazing view. I couldn’t ask for a better way to spend my Christmas day. I only wish I could have done a better job at making her smile. So unskilled! POKE YOU WITH A JUMBO MARKER!

I feel nauseous yet hungry… Feel like a peanut butter sandwich…
