So I didn’t blog yesterday…
Weekends are really lonely over here. Going to town by myself was something unthinkable to me not too long ago. Now I’m happily bounding out of my apartment and into the streets to relieve the monotony of my white walls.
Yesterday, I took a train down to Place de Opéra to locate that supposedly enormous arcade along Boulevard des Italiéns. But when I got there, 30 minutes of train riding and 20 minutes of walking later, there was… NO DRUM MANIA. =(
I stalked the rather smallish arcade (smallish in comparison with packed places like Plaza Singapura or Jurong Point’s arcades), sulked for a while, then went back to grab some lunch from Macdonalds. A lunch that cost me SGD7.00… For a tiny cup of coke and a tiny packet of fries. =\
Decided there and then to walk to Champs Elysée. It’s not a very short walk. It took me nearly an hour of brisk walking to get there.
here’s a shot of Place de Opéra, a fancy name for a really really busy intersection. This is less than half of the intersection, which has 7 boulevards running from it.

I managed to walk all the way to Chatélét

I spent my time at FNAC (a giant store that sells everything from CDs to movies to software to hardware to books to appliances to cameras to phones to tickets for plays) picking out some movies and dramas you can’t find back in Singapore. Like Shaun of the Dead. And the first 2 seasons of the L word.
Then back home. Again. =\
This morning was the drama of the ipod’s death throes. Teng told me to put it in the fridge. Lol. Sounds crazy but it worked. 15 minutes later and the apartment was silent. But sleep wouldn’t come back to me. =\ So I waited around till 12 then left for Champs Elysée again to get my ipod checked out.
Deducing at FNAC that my ipod was a sad sad case with it’s hardware only reparable with “200 euro!”, I decided to buy a new ipod instead. So much better. It felt rather sad the other day shopping for a cover for my old ipod, realizing that companies had already forsaken the older ipods for the newer generation. The “classic” ipod was so different from my “classic” ipod that it couldn’t squeeze into the protective cover. =(
After ipod shopping, I then headed to Orange, my French telephone service provider, to check how much talk time I had left in my prepaid card. When I got there, I found myself in the middle of a ferocious cat fight between the two lady staff members at the front desk. They started screaming at each other, throwing stuff at each other and clawing at each other. =\ They even stomped on my feet while I was trying to get out of the way. the managers all tried to stop them and pushed one into a secret cupboard flush with the wall.
Very strange.
Anywayyy… Having had my life nearly threatened for a while, my stomach informed me in a really unglamorous manner that I was hungry. So I walked over to FANTASTIC MUSSELS RESTAURANT and had myself one pot of mussels and a coke. Mussels came with fries and a basket of bread. =3 yummy!

It was a really big pot. I’m still full (therefore skipping dinner so I can sleep early…)
Here’s a picture of my new ipod (temporarily named Zaccheus- a Hebrew name meaning something like bright and shiny), nicknamed Zachy! And he’s a happy little 16G poddie. =

Not alot of space, compared to my previous ipod (who was un-named until today when I decided to call him SCREAMING BANSHEE FROM CHALKBOARD HELL) which was a whopping 60G I could never figure out what to do with. But I guess I’ll just have to prioritize the songs I want on the ipod. =) Make more room for apps.
Contrary to popular belief, it was actually marginally cheaper to buy the ipod Touch over here (with the tax rebate of 50euros of course). So marginal I’m just mentioning it to feel better about my purchase.
=D
Not sure why but my icons don’t jiggle like they’re supposed to when I hold down on them. Someone said on a forum that you need to PURCHASE the next upgrade to get all the cool stuff apple has on the website. KNS. 20 USD…
I’ll enjoy having Zachy around for a while before jail breaking him. Then the real fun starts. =D
