Aftermath Morning

Posted by Ying Huang on May 9, 2009

So… It’s 11am now. Having eaten 3 mouthfuls of mee goreng and a cup of tea, I felt like this was the start of a lovely, albeit rather foggy, day. This feeling was further proven apposite as I discovered my computer decided to grant me access to the world wide web again today.

=D

So, anyway, MCAT scores are out. And aside from my utter lack of mental preparation, the final scores (whether I opened them on Tuesday night or Wednesday morning) wouldn’t have a hairy gumball’s chance of being any different. My final score came up to…

10/7/R/8

And I’m totally unsure if I should be celebrating or crying, so I just sit there with a strangely placid expression on my face while my facial muscles twitch in anticipation of nothing in particular. 10 for humanities was expected, 7 in physics was… Kind of expected. R for writing was very unexpected. And 8 for biochem was spot on. So, failing physics, but acing humanities… IS BUDDHA TRYING TO TELL ME SOMETHING???

GAMSAT will be out next week. I hope. The official date isn’t out yet and “mid-May” sounds all nebulous.

Yesterday was fantastic. =) Thanks for dragging me all around the place. I know you’ve got lots to do aside from entertain me. So… =) It was really nice. Last night was fun too, covering 3 horrid horrid sins of morality, namely gambling, drinking and womanizing, and/or sloth. Oh, and greed. That’s a bit more than 3 now.

Dinner was awesome. Amazing seafood at that really amazing restaurant. Scampi was awesome, but a bit itchy in the aftermath. Gambling was pretty fun. I love the slots and their glorious randomness. Put in a dollar, punch something random and get 10 dollars. Sounds like a good deal. The game MatchMaker (not Love Match, dear) was pretty fun too… And whenever I started to lose and get depressed, flinging more than 2 chips on the table, I would start winning. I promptly took this as a sign that I should continue playing, and just as promptly lost my entire 10 dollars. I’m not too good at interpreting signs.

Dessert was a bunch of cakes we took back home. Lovely, but enormous cakes. Photos will come when the internet allows me to post photos (which will probably be next week…) but rest assured, there are plenty of photos. Cakes were accompanied by BBQ chips we had bought earlier in the day, and some lovely sprite with Lychee Soho that my talented personal bartender whipped up. It was actually really nice. We had to hunt everywhere for the Soho though, and only found it in 1 of the 5 liquor stores we popped into. But it was well worth the hunt. Lovely drink. Makes everything else taste and smell like lychee.

Booze, chips, cake and TV. Makes you want to bang the mug on the table shouting “MORE MEAD WENCH!!” though that wench would probably be referring to me as I wash the stack of dirty dishes in the sink.

Pink Dot is happening on the 16th of May. Not sure if I want to go. As much as I have these awesomely opinionated views on things, in particular those pertaining to issues that affect yours truly, I don’t see myself as anything more than an armchair activist, belting out my woes at whoever can be bothered to turn their ears in my general direction. I do, however, totally support the movement. One small step at a time, right? And if marching about Hong Lim Park with a bunch of picket signs is a small, though rather dismal, start, then so be it!

Parking there is nuts though.

I’m glad the entire AWARE saga/fiasco is over. I have plenty to say about it, accumulated in a long and very very wordy text file on my computer. But with the lack of internet over the past few days, they’re now a tad redundant. Shall keep them where they are then. On my desktop. Next to the photo of the angry cat swimming.

Today is pretty cloudy. The roads are already slick with rain from the night and a the air is thick with so much mist you feel you can take a bath just my running up and down the street. I’m going to miss these mornings. I don’t mind so much being a personal alarm clock. Feels like the kind of life I can do for the rest of my life.

Being with you feels like the kind of thing I can do for the rest of my life.

4th month anniversary was a couple of days ago, celebrated rather simply with takeaway sushi, roti prata and teh tarik. Not exactly what I had in mind, but it was strangely satisfying nevertheless. This month, I decided to do something that didn’t involve me actually making it, and something, hopefully, more tangible than a bunch of pixels on a screen. So I bought…

Chocolates.

=\

Cliche, I know. But yummy.

Shall blog more about everything on my mind when I get to higher ground (and better connection). I’m on the verge of jailbreaking my iPhone. But I can’t download the files required! Frustrating!!

Righto. Time to do the dishes!
